Our Mission Statement

The Piedmont Wind Symphony is a registered not-for-profit group located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The mission of the Piedmont Wind Symphony is to be nationally recognized for excellence in performance of symphonic wind music for the broadest audience possible while giving an opportunity to musicians of all ages to perform traditional and contemporary music.

This Means

We currently play three indoor concerts each year (fall, winter, spring), either in the Brendle Recital Hall of the Scales Fine Arts Center on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, or the Stevens Center in Downtown Winston Salem, North Carolina. Our indoor concerts are a mixture of serious and light music. The Spring concert features a well known guest artist.  In addition to this, we often highlight members of the Piedmont  Wind Symphony in concertos or other featured solos.

We also perform an FREE outdoor concert each year. Our Labor Day concert consists of a variety of light music, and is held at the Children's Museum. Picnicking is encouraged at this event -- bring your own food and lawn chairs! -- although concessions will be available if you like your affairs catered!

We charge admission to all our concerts. Live performances are expensive; the admission charge helps us defray the costs of renting halls, buying music, paying our guest artists, our musicians and operating our organization.
